Peter Matthew Cook

March 28, 1977 - May 14, 2025

Our Beloved Brother, Peter Matthew Cook went home to be with the Lord and reunited with his parents Glenn and Evelyn Cook on May 14, 2025. Everyone who knew him, loved him dearly. Peter will always live in our hearts and forever be remembered.

Peter Matthew Cook was born on March 28, 1977, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Peter loved the Lord, watching church on Sunday, spending time with his family, singing in church, listening to music and watching baseball. He was a devoted fan of the New York Mets. He was such a kind and loving person and had a heart full of love for everyone he met. Peter had a genuine smile that brought joy to everyone around him. Peter loved the color blue, watching game shows and hanging out with his brother Chris. Peter had overcome injuries related to a motor vehicle accident in 1991 that left him wheelchair bound. Throughout his lifetime he was able to enjoy and live life to the fullest with support of family and friends. On May 14, 2025, Peter peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. He has now been healed and will eternally walk with the Lord. Peter will forever be 48 and great!

Peter 2:24“Jesus himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds I have been healed.”

Peter was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Evelyn Cook, his grandparents Leslie (Stella)Epperson and Carson (Bessie)Cook.

Peter is survived by his brother, Christopher Glenn Cook, who was his best friend. Peter was Chris’ little buddy and their bond together was inseparable.

Peter is also survived by four sisters, their spouses, five nieces, four nephews, six great nephews and one great niece.

Ashley Cook Leverett (Michael) their two daughters Mila and Luna. Marsha Leigh Cook, her children Austin Munsey, Kaydee Munsey and her sons Levi and Emmitt. Brandon Munsey (Alyssa) and their son Aiden. Andrea Dawn Cook and her daughter Alana Dhane Louise Martin. Nyoka Lynn James (Steve) her children Hunter Linker, Randall Linker (Lauren) their children Brooks and Palmer, Megan Sedberry (Adam) their children Jackson and Everett.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 pm Friday, May 23, 2025, in the Chapel of Sullivan King Mortuary in Anderson, SC (3025 Hwy 81 North) The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm in the Blue Room.

The family will receive friends again on Tuesday, May 27 from 11:20 am - 11:50 am at Whitten Timberlake Chapel in Lynchburg, Va (7404 Timberlake Rd) followed by a second service to be held at 12 noon. Following the service, Peter will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA.
