Phyllis Austin Bower Denlinger Brubaker

Phyllis Austin Bower Denlinger Brubaker was born June 17, 1935 in Darke County, Ohio. She passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023 and gained her heavenly reward at age 88 years and four months. She was an energetic and kind hearted Christian woman who cared for others and touched the hearts of those who knew her. She was a member of the Shenandoah Old German Baptist Brethren Church New Conference. She was a very talented basket weaver who sold her baskets and taught weaving classes. She also enjoyed traveling and spending winters with family and friends in Homestead, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Evelyn Austin, her husband of 56 years, Orville Bower, her son, Donnie Bower, her husband of 10 years, Eldon Denlinger, her husband of two years, Donald Brubaker, her brother, Keith Austin, and her brother-in-law, Robert Montgomery. Phyllis is survived by her sons and their wives, Michael and Glenna Bower, Wayne and Angie Bower, her daughter-in-law, Susan Bower, her son and wife, Dale and Cindy Bower, her daughter and husband, Lisa and Hayden Newell, her step sons and their wives, Gary and Mary Jane Denlinger, Dan and Suzanne Denlinger, Randy and Carol Brubaker, Doug and Kathy Brubaker, her step daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Terry Boone, Sandy and Brian Stull, and Joy and Brad Siroky, her sister, Carol Montgomery, her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Updike, and sister-in law, Kay Austin. She has many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Close grandchildren that visited her often throughout the years were Sheldon and Thurston Bower, Shelia Bower, Beth Bowman, Jeremy and Katie Bower, Christopher and Elizabeth Bowman, Candace Bower, Travis and Caley Bower, and Tyler and Michelle Bower. Visitation will be at Shenandoah Old German Baptist Brethren Church New Conference at 2623 Carolina Springs Road in Rocky Mount on Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00 followed by the funeral on Thursday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m. Open casket viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
