Phyllis Thomas Smith

Phyllis Jean Thomas Smith, 83, of Eden, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023. She was born May 21, 1939 in Floyd, Virginia to the late Jesse Albert Thomas and Odessa Howell Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin McGhee Smith; and niece, Karen Thomas McCaslin. Phyllis was a member of First Church of the Brethren and Friendly Worship Center, and retired from Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to the beach, needlework and other crafts. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Sherry Garrett (Michael); son, Todd Smith (Angie); brother, Robert Thomas (Mavis); special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Cox; grandchildren, Tiffany Garrett, Connor Smith and Caelyn Smith; and special caregivers, Jean Andrade and Mary Nester. The graveside service will be Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Fair Haven Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Hilburn officiating. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
