Rachel Anderson Allman

April 21, 1933 - September 8, 2022

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Our Heavenly Father reached out His hand and said "Come home, my faithful servant, Rachel. The journey into her heavenly home was greeted by her true love of 63 years, Kenneth Allman, parents, Dossie and Henry Lawson Anderson and her siblings, Virginia, Russell, James (JL), Curtis Anderson and Sylvia Holland, brother-in-law, Silas Holland and sister-in-law, Gladys Anderson. Rachel leaves to cherish her memories her son, Henry Allman, friend, Angie Belcher, daughter, Donna Thurman and son-in-law, Billy Thurman and daughter, Twyla Hambrick, son-in-law, Donnie Hambrick, Also, to remember "Grandma Rachel" is her sweet grandchildren, Diana and Riley Hall, Christopher and Kameron Hambrick, Sarah and Michael Blanchard, Brandon and Sarah Hambrick, Elizabeth and Vince Kane, Victoria and Jonathan Hall, Bethany and Justin David, and a special "grandson," Travis Sink. Also remembering her of the sunshine her life was her great-grandchildren, Rylee Marie Hall, Haylee Hall, Kaleigh Thurman, Reagan David, Huntley David, Madison Blanchard, Malachi Kane, Huck Hambrick, Marley Hambrick, Adalee Hall, Hattie Hambrick and Anna Blanchard. Rachel also leaves behind to cherish lifetime memories, her sweet sister, Shirley Brown, her sister-in-law, Yvonne Anderson, and her sweet friend, Eva Mae Tyree. We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to Senior Care caretakers, Rick, Jennifer, Rhoda, Sarah and Kathy for their love and special care of Mom for the past few months. Rachel was a member of Glade Hill Baptist Church where she was an active member serving in various positions - Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director, Christmas program director, Flower Committee Chairperson, and she was the house care keeper for over thirty years. Rachel was a prayer warrior, praying for her family, community and church. Rachel was retired from the Franklin County Public Schools as a cafeteria worker for 30 plus years. Rachel could be found in her kitchen cooking good home cooked meals. Sour dough bread was one of her specialties. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Glade Hill Baptist Church on 6627 Colonial Turnpike, Glade Hill, VA. Interment will be following at the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 12th at the church and other times at the home of Donna and Billy Thurman, 623 Woodman Road, Rocky Mount. The family and friends are welcome to a gathering for a meal in the church fellowship hall immediately after the service.
