Rachel Clark Manuel
Rachel Clark Manuel, 93, of Tazewell, Virginia, died Monday, January 4, 2021 at Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Patrick County on January 21, 1927 to the late Elder Flem Lee Clark and the late Malissa Parker Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, William “Buck” Purgason and Harry Manuel; brother, Elder Paul Clark; sister-n-law, Rachel Mabe Clark and daughter-in-law, Reva Lowrance.
If Rachel could find a Primitive Baptist to talk scriptures with and sing a hymn, she had experienced a glorious day. Often times her parents would have guests and when they announced their departure, Rachel would ask them to sing a song before they left.
When Rachel could deliver a cake, a pie, bread pudding, fruit pizza or a salad to her friends and neighbors, she was very happy.
Rachel was a writer. She shared copies of her works with many near and far. She recorded many Primitive Baptist sermons and played them over and over and had worn three tape recorders out.
She is survived by her son, Marcus Lowrance (Tammy); two grandsons, Chad Lowrance (Marcie), Chris Lowrance; two sisters, Goldie Bryant and Mary Merciez.
A special thank to the staff at Heritage Hall (Tazewell, Virginia) for their loving and compassionate care. They are the best!
