Ralph Columbus Hedrick
Ralph Columbus Hedrick, 86, of 360 Knottingham Way, went to be with his Savior Tuesday, January 28, 2025, of a broken heart, just three short days after losing the love of his life, Gloria Hedrick. Mr Hedrick was born February 17, 1938, in Danville Va, the son of the late Cleave Hedrick and Kathleen Bobbitt Hedrick. He was married to his beautiful wife on March 4, 1957, spending over 67 faithful years with one another. His heart could not go another day on earth without her. Ralph prayed fervently for years and years that the Lord would allow him to stay on this earth to take care of his wife, and God was faithful to allow him to do so. He loved her until her last breath and held her hand until the end and now, his family rejoices that they are reunited in Glory. What a beautiful love story, a true testament to the faith and love they shared and have passed on as a lasting legacy.
Ralph is survived by three children, Debbie Watson (Coy), Eddie Hedrick (Barb), and Tammy Bonar (Brian). He was “Papa” to ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, with two more little ones on the way this year. His family was his top priority, always dedicated to praying for them all his days.
Ralph loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Third Avenue Christian Church for more than 40 years. Known for his cooking, he served many church lunches and dinners, served on the board of Deacons and board of Trustees for years, made many stews for fundraising and fellowship, and proudly coached the men’s church softball and basketball teams as well. He worked in printing for all of his adult life, and took much pride in his work. Ralph’s work ethic was admired by many and out of true love for his job and ability to provide for his family, he worked even until January 2024.
To honor both Ralph and Gloria, the family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services, Mt Hermon Chapel on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a joint Celebration of Life Service for the couple to follow at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service for them both will follow the Celebration of Life Service at Danville Memorial Gardens.
Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, 3995 Franklin Tpke., Danville, Va. is respectfully serving the family.
