Ralph David Smith

Mr. Ralph David Smith, age 76 of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, August 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Smith was born on October 5, 1948, in Surry County to the late Roy and Velma Jones Smith. Ralph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Early in life Ralph worked at Odell's Sandwich Shop for three decades and went on to run their catering truck business. Later in life he and his loving wife owned and operated Mayberry Primitives on Main Street in Mount Airy for many years. Known for his friendliness and hospitality, he was a fixture of downtown Mount Airy and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife, Sonya Boyd Smith; a son, Mark Anthony Smith; a grandchild, Cody Smith; a sister, Judy Smith Dearborn along with nephew and niece Steven Dearborn and Robin Combs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in the death by a brother-in-law, Edward Eugene Dearborn. Also surviving, mother-in-law, Edith Thomas and brother and sister in laws Tonya Boyd, Karen Flippen, Denise Watson, Rhonda Golding, Keith Boyd and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Steve McCreary officiating. The family will receive on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy have been entrusted with the arrangements.
