Ralph Otto Dunker

Ralph “Rod” Otto Dunker Jr., 78, of Roanoke, went be with the Lord on Monday, February 27, 2023. Rod fought valiantly against Alzheimer’s.

Rod was a successful Neurosurgeon who loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved helping others.

Rod is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen Esterly Dunker; sons, Peter Dunker (April), Jon Dunker, and Jesse Dunker (Kristin); daughter, Jenny Dunker; grandchildren, Quinn, Colin, Jonah, Josiah, and Joshua; sister, Marsha Beaty (Jim); brother, Bobby Dunker; and numerous other family members.

The family will have a Visitation on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 1:00-2:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Chapel Service will follow at 2:00pm and then will process to Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank The Glebe and Amedisys Hospice and their wonderful workers for taking such good care of Rod.
