Randy Michael Sigmon

Randy Michael Sigmon Sr., affectionately known as Mike, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC, following a short decline in health. He was 71 years old. Mike was born on December 7, 1953, in Danville, VA, to Bernard Harry Sigmon and Viola Shelton Sigmon.

Mike was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his children, Michelle Moon and her husband, Heath, his son, Randy Michael Sigmon Jr., and the mother of his children, Kathy Barber Sigmon. He was a proud grandfather, known fondly as “Papa”, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, Brady Petrushak, Maycie Petrushak, Gavin Moon, and Ava Moon. Mike’s love for his family was immeasurable, and he found great joy in watching his grandchildren grow.

He is also survived by his partner in life, Gail Rowland and his brother Harry Sigmon and his wife Sylvia. Mike held deep affection for his family, and they were a central part of his life.

Mike was an avid golfer, and his favorite place to be was on the golf course. He was known for his friendly demeanor, love for the game, and the many memories made with friends and family on the greens. Traveling was another passion of his, and he enjoyed exploring new places and experiences.

Mike retired from Goodyear and worked for the last 26 years at Holiday Inn Express, where he made lasting friendships and was well respected by his colleagues. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, kind heart, and genuine spirit.

A Funeral Service will be held in Mike’s honor on December 20,2 024 at 1:00pm at Norris West End Chapel, located at 511 Church Avenue, Danville, VA 24541, with Pastor Jeff Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at the family cemetery at 301 Flamingo Road, Dry Fork, VA 24549. A visitation will be held on the same day one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm.
