Ray Carter Straight

February 12, 1982 - June 22, 2025

RAY CARTER STRAIGHT, 43, of Princeton, WV, died tragically on Sunday, June 22, 2025  from injuries sustained in an accident in South Carolina. He was born February 12, 1982 in Columbus, OH, the son of Raymond Carter, Jr. & Marilyn Sue Straight.

Ray was an extreme avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.  Throughout every game, he could be heard yelling “Go Bucs!!”

Ray was a humble and funny man with a huge sense of humor. He could brighten anyone’s day. He was an artist and was highly intelligent. He was confident and proud of his accomplishments.

Ray was a hard worker. He was a transmission mechanic at Amoco Transmissions in Princeton for over 20 years. He was most recently working for J & M Paving in South Carolina.

Ray loved his family and was considered his mama’s baby. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Carter, Jr., his maternal grandparents, James Straight and Virginia Smith, his paternal grandparents, Raymond Carter, Sr. & Ada Merson; and his uncles, James Holberg Straight and Bob Straight.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Marilyn Sue Straight; his daughter, Savanah Raye Straight & her mother, Rebekah Jolene Jones; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Melissa Straight & David Taylor and Christina Sue & Richard Lee Willis; his uncles & aunts, David & Tammie Straight and Jack & Debbie Straight; his nieces and nephews, Andrea Wright, Haley Willis, Emmi Wilis, Gracie Willis, Brayden Willis and Austin (“Bubby”) Straight; and a host of cousins,  uncles and aunts and special friends.

Per his wishes, Ray has been cremated. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Ryan Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M.
