Ray Eugene Harrington

Ray Eugene Harrington, 91, of Bassett, VA passed away Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born April 19, 1932 in Fieldale, VA to the late Lonnie Edgar Harrington and Beulah McManis Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, James, Willard, Bill, and Roy Harrington; and sister, Ruth Craft.

Ray was a member of Fort Trial Christian Church and drove a truck for Old Dominion Trucking Co. for 36 years. He also served in the U.S. Army for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nancy M. Harrington; daughter, Kim H. Arnold; grandchildren, Ralph Jefferson “JT” Turner, III (Emily) and Ray Martin Arnold; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel with Jeff Townsend and Danny Hart officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his niece, Cindy Townsend, for taking care of Ray in the last years of his life.
