Raymond "Cobb" Lee Willis

November 22, 1936 - August 2, 2023

RAYMOND (“COBB”) LEE WILLIS, 86, of Rocky Gap, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at his home. He was born November 22, 1936 in Rocky Gap, VA, the son of the late Jeff & Wilma Willis. 

He was a member of the Williams Chapel Church of Christ.  He was a Freemason  and was a member of the Tazewell Lodge # 62. He was a mechanic and could fix anything.  He enjoyed farming, coon hunting with his boys and  turkey hunting. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and spent much of his service in Alaska.  He never met a stranger and helped others in their time of need asking nothing in return. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jefferson & Wilma Underwood Willis, his son, Ricky Willis, his grandson, Matthew Shrader, two infant brothers, Anthony and Lawrence, his sisters, Gail, Sandie, Shelby, Theresa and Sheliah and his brother-in-law and best friend, Donald McGuire. 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Hayes Willis; his children, Sherry & Gary Osborne, Kevin & Ila Willis, Dean & Melissa Willis and Lisa Willis; his grandchildren, Michael, Hope, Richard, Leeandra, Tommy, Andy, Trista, Bradley, Anthony, Lindsey, Jacob and Kelli; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Phyllis Ruble and several nieces and nephews. 

Per his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services at this time. The family plans to have a celebration of life service for his family and friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the home of Ward Bailey, Laurel Fork Rd., Rocky Gap, VA, with Danny Hazelwood officiating. The family asks that anyone planning to attend please let them know so they will know a headcount for preparation of food.

Raymond's family would like to thank Wythe Hospice of SWVA for their care and compassion and friends and neighbors for all the calls, food and especially the prayers throughout the last few months. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Raymond’s honor to the Rocky Gap Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 155, Rocky Gap, VA, 24366.
