Rebecca Jo Masters

August 26, 1943 - December 10, 2025

Rebecca Jo Masters, 82, of Radford, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband and children on December 10, 2025. She was born in Hedgesville, West Virginia, to the late H. Kirby and Louise Hite Riner. Becky Jo graduated from Hedgesville High School and attended Shepherd University.

She shared 62 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband, Larry W. Masters, a partnership built on love, faith, and unwavering companionship. Becky Jo was a loving mother to her two children, Mark Masters (wife Kenda) of Hedgesville, WV, and Cyndy Rupe (husband David) of Radford, VA. She was a proud grandmother to three special grandsons—Zane David Rupe, Evan William Rupe, and Nickolas William Masters who brought her immense joy.

Becky Jo is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Riner Lewis and Christine Riner Holben (husband Earnest) of Hedgesville, WV, sister-in-law Joyce Masters Atkins (husband Lewis) of Sod, WV, and several cherished nieces and nephews. She loved the friendship she shared with Kathy, Marcy and Gayle in the Radford area but also had lifelong friends Gail Butler of WV, Beth Dhawan of FL, and Ruth Ellen Gilley of MD, friends who held a special place in her heart.

Throughout her life, Becky Jo and Larry moved nine times, and in each place she found friends, community, and a church home. She was an active member of Dublin United Methodist Church in Dublin, VA, and dedicated herself to living a life of faith, love, and service. During her life she served the United Methodist Church and the various communities in which she lived in different roles as a Lay Speaker, Care Shepherd and Stephen Minister.

Her greatest joys were being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, celebrating the love of Jesus Christ, and caring deeply for the needs of others.

Affectionately known as “Aunt Becky” by family, friends, and countless others whose lives she touched, she will be remembered for her gentle spirit, boundless love, and the quiet strength with which she made the world a better place. Her legacy of faith, compassion, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Dublin United Methodist Church in Dublin. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. with Don Shelor officiating. Becky Jo will then go back to her hometown of Hedgesville, West Virginia, for a time of remembrance on Sunday, December 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, 327 West King Street, Martinsburg, WV, 25401. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Hedgesville Cemetery following the time of remembrance,
