Rebecca Robinson Dowdy

Rebecca Robinson Dowdy, 78, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents Jack L. Robinson and Shirley Eller Robinson.

Rebecca is survived by her daughters Erin Dowdy Grisso and husband Jason, and Jessica Dowdy Hamilton and husband Damon; grandchildren, Brandon Hamilton, Landon Grisso & wife Kristen, Luke Grisso, Gavin Hamilton, Emma Grisso, and Ryleigh Hamilton; special friend Jim.

Rebecca has many friends from many hobbies. She enjoyed her monthly get togethers with her friends from William Fleming class of ‘65, as well as being in the Roanoke Shag Club. She was known as someone who never met a stranger, and her love for any type of animal shown with everything she did.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the team at Holston Health & Rehab and the Medical Team at Lewis-Gale Medical Center for the care they gave Rebecca.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Rebecca’s name to Angels of Assisi (725 Franklin Road SW Roanoke, Virginia 24011).

Services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel with Pastor Greg Irby officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5-7 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel. Interment will be private for the family.
