Reuben Kump Ward

Reuben K. Ward, 93, of Salisbury, NC, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, and brother. Dad was born in Mill Creek, WV, to George Ward and Flora Davidson, and had four older brothers. He held two engineering degrees from West Virginia University, worked as an engineer in the chemical and coal industries, and taught mining and mechanical engineering technology at West Virginia University Institute of Technology. He loved sports of all kinds, especially tennis. He was married to Rose Marie Damon (deceased) for 53 years and his survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Teresa Ward and late son, Noah Ward of Radford VA, his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Jim Gordon of Winchester, VA, their two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Matt Oakley and granddaughter Lakelyn of Farmville, NC, and Katie and Eric Baily, and grandson, Brooks of Lakeland, FL. Dad was a member of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith, NC, and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. A memorial service will be held in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Richard Myers officiating. Donations to Wounded Warriors in honor of Dad are welcome.
