Richard Allen Kinder

August 23, 1942 - January 17, 2025

Mr. Richard Allen Kinder, age 82 of Cana, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home Friday morning, January 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Kinder was born on August 23, 1942, in Wayne County, Missouri to the late Ural and Pauline Cartright Kinder. Mr. Kinder was an equipment operator for more than 50 years, having worked in many states. He was also an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with his friends and family. He was a faithful member of Rocky Ford Christian Church. Surviving is his devoted wife, Delores Jean Kinder; daughters, Annette Engemann (Daniel) and Vicki Bland (Steve); bonus son, Brad S. Hiatt; granddaughters, Kelli Newman (Will) and Faith Austin (Michael); bonus grandson, Raleigh Hiatt; bonus granddaughter, Kyndall Hiatt; great-granddaughter, Sadie Newman; brothers, Raymond Kinder (Jacque) and Vernon Kinder (Maxine); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kinder was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Harbison; sister, Faye Rackley (Jay); brothers, Roger Kinder (Lou) and William Kinder (June); and an infant brother, Ural Kinder, Jr. A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Kinder’s life will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Rocky Ford Christian Church in Cana, Virginia with Pastor Jim Kinder and Pastor Justin McCreary officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
