Richard "Dick" Taylor
Richard Anthony (Dick) Taylor went to rest on April 8, 2025. He was born in Rutland, Vermont. The son of Bernard Carroll Taylor and Gladys Mae Loso Taylor.
Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane Ford-Taylor and a son, Dr. Mark M. Taylor. He is also survived by his grandson Nicholas “Nick” Taylor (Bridget) and his granddaughter Kelsey Sloan (Jared) and great grandchildren, Anne and Jack Sloan. Also surviving is his sister, Barbara Oberman, who resides today at Richfield Assisted Living; and his brother, Bernard Timothy (Tim) who lives with his wife JoAnn and family in Fort Edward, New York.
Dick began his career as a Fingerprint Analyst at The FBI in Washington, D.C. in 1958. From there he went to the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D. C. In 1974, he began employment with the Bureau of Forensic Science in Roanoke, VA., working there as Supervisor of the Latent Fingerprint Section for 30 years.
Dick was an avid genealogist and through researching records, he found two cousins he hadn’t seen in forty years, Pam and Karen Taylor. He is predeceased by his parents and a son, Daniel Anthony Taylor. His family wishes to thank the “Angels Among Us”, Shannon Maggi and Dana Reed; and the Carilion Hospice; and the nurses and caregivers at Friendship Terrace Memory Care in Salem, Virginia.
Dick’s funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Transfiguration, Fincastle, Virginia, on April 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
