Richard "Gary" Garrett Cook

September 20, 1950 - April 25, 2025

Richard “Gary” Garrett Cook, 74, of Radford, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025. He was a U. S. Army veteran and taught Physical Education and Art in Montgomery County Schools.  He received a B.A. degree from Hamden-Sydney College, a B.S. degree from Old Dominion University, and his Master’s degree from VPI&SU (VaTech). Gary loved spending time with his cousins and their children as well as playing golf, sports, music, reading, and painting, enjoying all types of art.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Jay D. Cook, Jr. and Florence G. Cook; and brother, J. D. “Trip” Cook III. 

Survivors include his cousins and their children.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lexington, Virginia.
