Richard Harold Maus

Richard Maus, 74, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born June 8th, 1949, in Sapporo, Japan to Harold Joseph (USMC, Army) and Loretta Elizabeth (USMC), Richard had fond memories of world travel and military life growing up.While attached to Ft Dix, NJ, Richie graduated from Burlington Township High (1968) where he was known for fast cars, his Hollywood good looks, and skipping class to surf down at the shore. With immense pride he served in the USMC and as a CACO/CAP Marine in Vietnam where he earned two Purple Hearts. He later worked and retired as an air traffic controller in Roanoke, VA. Rich, beloved Dad and Pop Pop, valued his family above all, having a loving 35-year marriage with Brenda Clatts Maus, five children and 10 grandchildren: son: Eric, his wife Mae, their children Tabitha and Cameron, daughter: Shannon, friend Chris, her daughters Carleigh and Katherine, son: Aaron and his sons, Ethan, Jackson, and Riley Daughter: Raine, her husband, Stephen, their children Dalton, River, and Archer, daughter: his baby, Ivy Richard is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Loretta, his brother Kenneth, and sisters Lorraine Cotton and Lois Williams. He is survived by Brenda, his children, grandchildren, brother Tommie Maus, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends attached to his CAP Marine Unit. He will be honored privately by his family at this time and arrangements for burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced when scheduled.
