Richard "Rick" Franklin Hopkins

Richard “Rick” Franklin Hopkins, 70, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born December 30, 1953, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Herman Franklin Hopkins and Nancy Geneva Morton Hopkins.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Hopkins and Michael Hopkins.He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Pamela Michele Phillips Hopkins; daughter, Tina Hopkins Arrington (Eric); grandchildren, Nathan Arrington, Seth Arrington and Evan Arrington; stepmother, Roena Hopkins; stepsister, Bettina Hawks; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Rick was an active member of Mercy Crossing for over twenty-five years. He was a dedicated employee of Patrick & Henry Community College for approximately twenty years where he greatly enjoyed the camaraderie between his coworkers. In his free time, you could find Rick hunting, camping, or watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons with his cat, Coco curled up on his lap. If you were fortunate enough to be picked on by Rick, you knew you were loved. He held dearest to his heart his relationship with the Lord, his family, his friends, and his church family. His generous heart and helping hand will be greatly missed by all who knew him.A Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at Mercy Crossing Church with Pastors Timothy Nuckles, Keith Hawes and Jimmy Wood officiating.
