Richard "Ricky" Douglas Davis

Mr. Richard “Ricky” Douglas Davis, Sr., age 70, of Mount Airy passed away early Monday morning February 20, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Wake County on February 22, 1952, to Wanda Davis Cooley. Ricky was a retired cabinet maker. He loved to work with anything wood and building things. He and his wife were the Chaplains for the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department (Station 73). Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dara Ann Forbes Davis; his children, Richard Douglas “Doug” Davis, Jr. and Dawn, Pam and Anthony Avery; and Shane Davis and Courtney; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his mother, Wanda Davis Cooley; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Cooley and Jimmy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wendy Davis, Walter Lancaster and Carla, and Mike Lancaster and Kim; his special kitty, Pepper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 23, 2023, at 2:00PM at Southside Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Cashwell and Pastor Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 – 2:00PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Davis family.
