Rita Rainey

Rita L. Rainey, 78, a lifelong resident of the Roanoke, Va. area, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.Rita was born in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Gid M. and Delphine Crooke. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Linda C. Preston.Rita was a homemaker and married Donald C. Rainey in 1965. They shared a loving relationship for 49 years until his passing in 2014. Rita was a very loving and devoted wife and mother.Rita was an animal lover who had many dogs throughout her life and was a long-time supporter of the League for Animal Protection.Left to cherish her memories are her loving son, Matthew Scott Rainey and his wife, Kathy; and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Ian.Services were private and held at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, Va.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the League for Animal Protection at 603 Poor Farm Road in Fincastle, Va. 24090.
