Robert Carl Newberry

ROBERT CARL NEWBERRY, 83, of the Mechanicsburg Community of Bland, VA, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at his home. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Miller & Ruth Kitts Newberry.

Known as “Bobby” or “Bobby Carl” throughout the community, he was the loving husband of 56 years to Sue Smith Newberry. He was a proud father to Matthew Newberry and a loving friend who liked to pick on his caregiver, Kris St. Clair. 

“Bobby” retired from the Bland Correctional Center where he was their dairy manager.  After his retirement, he ran the family farm for his dad.

“Bobby” was a faithful member of the Trent’s Grocery Senior Coffee Club where he could tell a tall tale with  all of his friends. 

“Bobby’s” funeral service and graveside committal service will be held at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom Maurer officiating. After the service at the funeral home, he will be laid to rest at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in “Bobby’s” honor to the charity of your choice.
