Robert Cummings Vogler
Robert Cummings Vogler, 75, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1947 to the late Robert E. Vogler and Dorothy C. Vogler. His niece, Mary Elizabeth Brooks, also preceded him in death.He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gail and his daughter, Rebecca Vogler (John Hudson) ; sisters, Judy Vogler and Jo Ann Vogler Brooks (Herb); brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Vicki Reeves; nieces and nephews, Melany Reeves Stowe, Nathan Reeves (Traci), Zachary Reeves (Roxanne), Emily Brooks Walker (Gray); great nieces and nephews, Reeves and Jagger Stowe, Grayson and Brody Reeves, Knox and Nora Reeves, Brooks and Mary Windsor Walker.He was a proud alumni of P&HCC, VCU and UVA. He has also served as a teacher and assistant principal in the Henry County Public Schools and retired as the Director of Student Services.He was also a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. He was past president of the Colonel George Waller Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and a member of the Virginia SAR Color Guard. He was a presenter on colonial history to local groups and organizations and was a former Revolutionary War reenactor. He served on the board of directors for the Patrick and Henry Community College, Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness and for the Oakwood Cemetery Board. Bob also served on the boards for the Martinsville Transportation Commission and the Martinsville Henry County Historical Society. He was a member of the Virginia Museum of Natural History and the Society of the War of 1812. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at First United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Faith Weedling and Gary Hollingsworth. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 146 East Main Street, Martinsville, VA 24112 or to the Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 730 E.
