Robert Edward Dean
Robert “Bob” Edward Dean, age 83, of Appomattox, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Born on May 18, 1942, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Bob was the son of the late Charlie E. Dean and Lois B. Dean. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda H. Dean; his brother, Raymond Dean; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Bob spent many years working at Griffin Pipe and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve in his younger days.
Those who knew Bob will remember his love for life and his many passions. He was happiest when spending time with his wife, Linda, and their family. Bob had a lifelong love of motorcycles, trail bikes, and especially mini bikes—his adventurous spirit and playful nature were a constant joy to those around him. He enjoyed going to the beach and he never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good time in the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his five daughters, Pamela D. Conner (Ray, Jr.), Victoria D. Wargovich (Thomas), Lisa D. Kelly (Glenn), Carol D. Burd (Jim), and Amy D. Shaddock (Pete); two sisters, Frances D. Kleppinger (Dave) and Janice D. Hagar (Ed); thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend and caregiver, Louise Wilson.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Centra Health, Inc. Hospice of the Hills for the exceptional care they provided to Bob during his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Jeff Whorley officiating. Burial will follow at Meade Cemetery.
Following the committal, friends and family are invited to join the family for a meal and visitation at Woodmen of the World, 318 Harrell Street, Appomattox, VA 24522.
