Robert Fitzgerald Harris

Robert Fitzgerald Harris, 91 of Chatham passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at SOVAH Health in Danville, VA. Mr. Harris was born March 10, 1932 in Pittsylvania County to the late Clara Motley Harris and the late Harry Fitzgerald Harris. He was married to Geraldine England Harris, of the residence.

He was a member of Blairs Baptist Church. He will always be remembered as a kindhearted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and dedicated friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Ellen H. Petty (James), Wendy H. Rodriguez (Dan), and Cindy England; sons, Gary Dale Harris (Gail) and Jack England (Patricia); ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Welsh (Sam).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was also predeceased by his first wife, Roslyn Blair Harris; one son, Robert F. “Bob” Harris, Jr.; one sister, Shelby H. Patrick; and one brother, Jimmy Harris.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023, 3:00 p.m. at Blairs Baptist Church with Pastor John Lester officiating. Burial will follow the service at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.

At other times the family will be receiving friends and family at the residence.
