Robert "Rabbit" Walker Smith

Robert Walker “Rabbit” Smith, Jr., 80, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was the son of the late Robert Walker Smith, Sr., and Marion Jordan Smith.

Born on May 21, 1944, Robert was a dedicated and hardworking individual. He demonstrated this commitment throughout his impressive 20+ year career as an auto mechanic with Volkswagen. A loyal member of the Moose Lodge, Chapter 1727, for over five decades, Robert was well-respected by all who knew him. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races, though he kept his favorite driver a well-guarded secret. Above all, Robert was a loving man, and he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in passing by three siblings, Ellen Hamilton, Jeannette Staton and Violet Cunningham.

Those left to cherish Robert’s memory include his daughter Cyanthia Irby and her husband Jason; his brother Calvin Smith and his wife Linda; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will take place Monday, April 28, 2025 at 2pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Joanne Newman.
