Robert Ray Miller

ROBERT RAY MILLER, (“PaPaw Miller”), 91, formerly of Brushfork, WV, died Sunday October 12, 2025 at the home of his daughter, Beth, in Bastian, VA.

Born October 7, 1934 in Boone County, WV in the small community of Cox’s Fork, he was the son of the late Ernest Curtis Miller and Hazel Marie Wilcox Miller. Robert was a faithful attender of Bastian Church of God and enjoyed the fellowship with his Savior and the congregation. Robert retired from Verizon Phone Company.

PaPaw or Bob, as he was called by many, enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, fast shiny cars, all his many electronic devices and his regular visits to Hardees to hang out with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Doris Fay Miller, his daughter, Donna Rae Miller, his brother, Curtis, Jr., and his sisters, Emogene and Geneva.

Survivors include two children, Beth Ann & Harlan Cox, of Bastian, VA and Robert, Jr. & Danielle Miller, of Bluefield, WV, one sister, Daphne, of Danville, WV; four grandchildren, Nathan Ray & Samantha Cox, Hannah Rae & William Arney, Andy Paul Miller and Alex Ray Miller; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Charlotte and two more on the way, Amos and Gideon; many nieces and nephews and special friend, Leroy Dowdy.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated.  A celebration of life service is planned for Friday, October 17, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at the Bastian Church of God, with Pastor Cliff Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until service time, 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Bob’s honor to the Bastian Church of God Youth Group.
