Robert Stanton Rice
ROBERT STANTON RICE, 56, of Athens, WV, left his earthly home Tuesday, April 11, 2023, to be with the Lord. Known to many as Rob, he never met a stranger and found delight in his grandchildren. Robert was a faithful friend, husband, father, and son. He enjoyed making those around him smile, he was quick with a joke, and was known for his witty euphemisms among other things. He was good with his hands, a true artist. This served him well at his profession which became a passion of making dentures for over 30 years, a true master of his craft.
Robert was a spiritual man, who believed in God. He had a large heart for people from all walks of life especially, children, the elderly, and animals. He believed in living every day to the fullest, as if it were your last, because in his words “You only get one shot at this thing we call life. You had better make it count.”. He prided himself in his son with whom he was very close. He loved his wife with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. He was a charitable man who gave to those in need even when he didn’t have much for himself. Robert enjoyed a variety of music and could recall lyrics to songs practically at will. He loved his parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law. He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He especially loved his grandchildren like no other. He will be remembered as a good fun-loving man, a grandfather full of spirit and creativity, a Husband, a Father, a Son, and Brother full of love, wisdom, and knowledge.
Robert’s family is rather large. He’s survived by his wife of 36 years, Tina Collins Rice; his son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Sherri Rice; and his four beloved grandchildren, Orion & Ean McMillan, Zane & London Rice.
He leaves behind his father and mother Bill & June Rice; his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray & Tammy of Bland, Billy and Scarlett Rice, and Ben and Jennifer Rice; his two nieces, Stephanie and Willow Rice; and one nephew, Will Rice.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ruth Collins; his sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Heather & Danny Morehead; his niece Mollie Morehead; his nephews Morgan and Mason & Ashley Morehead and their son, Maxon.
