Robert W. Flanary

Robert W. Flanary (Bob), 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 6th at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Va. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Terry. Also, by his loving children, Mark (Vicki) Flanary, Robert Flanary, Jr. (Bobby), Rebecca James (Becky), Karen Flanary and Brad (Debra) Flanary, 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. Also, his special Nieces and Nephews!

He served honorably in the United States Navy and retired as the Maintenance Superintendent from Fairington Apartments in Roanoke. Bob and Terry loved the adventures of travel especially to the National Parks, his favorite being Yellowstone. He once was an avid gardener, who still enjoyed the beauty of his hydrangeas and crepe myrtles. 

The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the 4th floor Hospital Nursing and Medical Staff and the Hospice Nursing Staff and Drs at the VA Medical Center, whose care and compassion are unmatched. A full Military Service will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 10 AM at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA officiated by Dr. Joe Greene and the VA Medical Center Chaplain, Catina Martin. Please join the family after the Service at 12 noon for a Celebration of Life of Mr. Flanary at Green Hill Park in Salem, VA (Shelter 2).
