Robert Wayne Nicely

Robert Wayne Nicely, 83, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 21, 2024. He was preceded by his parents, Nellie and Roosevelt Nicely and a brother, Fremont Nicely.

Wayne had a long successful career in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry. He retired from Automatic Equipment Sales after 40 years of service and later worked for Virginia Air Distributors. He was the founder of the Roanoke Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. He was a longtime member of Northview United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Patricia “Patsy” Spence Nicely; children, Brandon Nicely (Lisa), Brian Nicely (Dawn) , Rodney Nicely (Monica), and Susan Harper (Bradley); grandchildren, Chandler Nicely, Bryce Nicely, Mat Parrish (Alexis), Madeline Nicely, Ashton Harper, Sophie Nicely, Addison Harper, and Lila Nicely; great grandson, Bearette Parrish; sisters, Christine Nicely, and Patsy Dobbins (Frank).

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Building Fund C/O Northview United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association.

A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Northview United Methodist Church 521 Ridgecrest Drive. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.
