Roderick DIon Wells
Roderick Dion Wells, affectionately known as “Rod”, 59, transitioned from life to eternity on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 3, 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Naydene Gravely Wells.
In addition to his father, Benjamin F. Seay, and stepfather, Harry Wells, Rod was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nathaniel and Elsie Gravely and brother, Corey Wells.
He received his early education in the Martinsville City School System and was a 1982 graduate of Martinsville High School.
Rod accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and was baptized at Bethel Way Church of Christ, Danville, Virginia. He also attended Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Martinsville, Virginia.
Rod was employed by Vanity Fair Nautica for ten years where he was loved and cherished by fellow coworkers. A diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Rod enjoyed watching football with family and friends and was always the life of the party.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Naydene Wells; his life partner, Ann Holland; four children that he was instrumental in rearing, Deon Holland, Keon Holland, DeShawn Holland and Dominique Holland; three brothers, Michael Wells, Shawn (Alicia) Brooks and Ronnie Via; six sisters, Harriet (Tim) Melvin, Brigette (Delrick) Mooreman, Angela (Jeremiah) Seay-Clark, Whitney Watkins, April Millner and Karen Smith; special aunt, Patricia Gravely Dowdy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with visitation thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park.
