Rodney Alden Altizer

Rodney Alden Altizer, age 86, of Christiansburg died, Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born on March 11, 1939, to the late Edgar A. and Mabel Bowyer Altizer. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dixie Thurman and Rebecca Altizer Whitlock. He was a veteran of the US Army. Rodney retired from the Power House at Virginia Tech after over 25 years of service. He was devout about reading his Bible, an avid runner, and NASCAR fan. He was devoted to his family and loved his Thunderbird. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Altizer; son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Cathy Altizer; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ron Maybaum; grandchildren, Caleb Altizer, Hannah Altizer, and Alaina Partin; brother, Carlos Altizer (Pat McCall); brother-in-law, Pete Whitlock; and daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Hank Partin. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 23 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends from 10-11:00 am before the service. A private graveside will be held at Sunset Cemetery.
