Rodney R. Hunley

Rodney Reginald Hunley Jr., 66, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Hunley (Pam), and his parents, Rodney R. Hunley Sr. (Bud) and Norma Powell Hunley.

Reggie is survived by his brother, William Johnson Hunley, his sister-in-law, Deborah Hentz Hunley, and his beloved niece, Rachel Margaret Hunley.

Reggie will be remembered for his hard work and generosity, both at home and on the job. He worked in maintenance at Excel Truck Group for 40 years, where he was known for his tireless devotion to his job and his ability to fix almost anything. He thought of the folks at Excel as his second family. Reggie was always quick to lend a hand to the people around him. He will be lovingly remembered for his ready wit and entertaining stories.

The family would like to thank Reggie and Pam’s close friend Teresa Kidd, and the management and employees of Excel Truck Group for their support and assistance over the years, and especially during this time.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton at 2 pm. The family will receive friends Monday, January 5, 2025 at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel from 4-6 pm.  Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. (540)366-0707.
