Roger Dale Lemmon

July 28, 1952 - June 19, 2023

On June 19, 2023, we said goodbye to Roger Dale Lemon, who had been an anchor of warmth and laughter since his birth on July 28, 1952. His unwavering loyalty, humor, and boundless love for his family will forever be his legacy.

Roger was the son of the late Howard Lemon and Carol Joyce Wriston, and the loving father of Jesse Lemon, Tia Lemon, Jennifer Lemon, Robert Lemon, and his daughter-in-law Azar Lemon. He also leaves behind his sisters, Barbara M. Dixon (Bill) and Billie W. Dinkler (Anderson).

His life was enriched by his grandchildren, Jaden Moore, Jordan Moore, Jazmyn LaFollette, Arsha Lemon, and great-grandchildren, Kamdyn Martin and Kenadee Fuller. His unique charm, wit, and spirit of playfulness brightened their world and will continue to live on in their hearts.

Roger was a man known for his strong opinions. From life's profound questions to everyday trivialities, he defended his viewpoints with an unwavering vigor. But what made him remarkable was his ability to keep these spirited debates from interfering with the deep bonds he had with those around him.

Roger was a character, with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He cared little for material things and much for people. His loyalty was a beacon for those he loved, as solid as his unwavering support for the underdog Cleveland Browns. He gave great advice, though often by mistake. He embraced adventure, loved to try new foods, loved to learn about different cultures, and could say the bad words in many different languages. The daily texts he sent, brimming with warmth and affection, became a cherished part of our routine.

Roger spent his final day, Father’s Day, being recognized and celebrated by those he loved. A fitting conclusion for a man who poured his heart into his family.

Join us as we pay tribute to this remarkable man on Friday, June 23rd, at 2pm at the Wright Funeral Home in Martinsville, VA. Roger was a boisterous, passionate, mischievous sweetheart of a man who will be profoundly missed.
