Ronald Speakman

Ronald Charles Speakman, 80, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, NC. He was born August 15, 1942 in Birmingham Alabama, to the late Charles Baxter Speakman, Sr. and Katherine Hoskins Speakman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Carlton Speakman.

He was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School Class of 1960, was a member of Fieldale United Methodist Church, and enjoyed golf and traveling. He had been employed by DuPont for 30 years.

Mr. Speakman is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Philpott Speakman; son, Ronald Charles Speakman, Jr. (Cathy); sisters, Arlene Hurt and Brenda Wright (J.D.); brothers, Charles B. Speakman, Jr. (Heidi) and Barry A. Speakman; step-son, Chris Martin (Wina Gail); step-daughter, Julie Martin; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Fieldale United Methodist Church with Pastor David McEntire officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Donations may be made in memory of Ron to Fieldale United Methodist Church, 36 Patrick Avenue, Fieldale, VA 24089 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 240 Commonwealth Boulevard W., Unit 602B, Martinsville, VA 24112.
