Roy Raven Lynch
Roy Raven Lynch, age 83 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 2, 2025. He was born December 12, 1941 to the late Roy and Mary Ann Jones Lynch.
Raven was a man of great faith and character. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. A dedicated craftsman, he learned the value of hard work from an early age and was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. Raven built a legacy of beautiful and enduring structures as a brick mason and founder of Raven’s Masonry for decades. He was known for his hard work, keen eye, and commitment to excellence, leaving his mark on countless homes, buildings, and landmarks throughout Southwest Virginia. He also built, owned, and operated Raven’s Country Store, a pillar of the community where friendly service will be remembered by all who knew him.
When he wasn’t on the job, Raven enjoyed collecting and driving antique cars, as well as attending antique car shows with family and friends and hosting his friends at his garage and home. More than anything, he was a devoted family man who built a strong and loving foundation for his loved ones, just as he did for his clients. His wit was sharp, his loyalty was steadfast, and his ability to make everyone feel at home will be dearly missed.
Raven is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jean; his children, Andy Sink, Joey Sink, Raven Lynch, Jr. (Sean Harris), Mary Lynch Pinckard and Mark Lynch; his grandchildren, Jennifer David (Steven), Zach Sink, Mandi Young, Eli Sink (Hali) and Vaughn Pinckard; great-grandchildren, Sam David, Grey David, Ramsey Young, Shea Sink, Jake Sink and Mason Young.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Donna Sink; daughter-in-law, Kay Sink; and grandson-in-law, Chance Young.
A funeral service to celebrate Raven’s life will be held at Rocky Mount Baptist Church at 12 noon Friday, September 5, 2025 with Pastor Trevor Clatterbuck officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Carilion Home Health, Franklin Memorial Hospital, Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their compassionate care.
