Rubenia May Davis Carter
Rubenia May Davis Carter, affectionately called “Bean,” of 775 Whispering Pines Rd., Axton, Virginia, departed this life on June 13, 2024, at her place of residence.
Rubenia was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia on March 8, 1934, to the late Joe Henry Davis and Myrtle Edith Deering-Davis. Rubenia was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School system. Rubenia was a member of New Design Baptist Church in Axton, Virginia, where she served as an usher. On October 12, 1951, Rubenia was married to Albert Lee Carter, who preceded her in death in 2014. To this union, eight children were born. Rubenia was employed at American Furniture Factory for several years and with Brown Products, where she later retired.
Rubenia leaves her cherished children: Deborah Harris (James), Linda Hampton (Grady), Maurice Carter (Vanessa), and Brian Carter (Pamela). Rubenia was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Carter and four children, Dorry Oleather Carter, Barry Edward Carter, Loretta Carter, and Allen Lee Carter. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Edward Kenneth Davis and Clyde Wayne Davis. Rubenia leaves her cherished two brothers: Vernon “Jack” Davis and Willie “Skeeter” Joe Davis.
Rubenia leaves her cherished 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Norris Funeral Services on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 3:00 PM, with viewing from 2:30-3:00. Interment will follow at the family cemetery.
