Ruby Marshall Hairston

Ruby Marshall Hairston, 99, of Martinsville, Virgina, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born November 29, 1924, in Ridgeway, to the late Homer Marshall Sr. and Mattie Lee Morris Marshall.In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Edison Penn Hairston; sisters, Maggie Dodson, Claudia McNair, Alma White, and Johnsie Brown; grandchild, Brandon Michael Swanson.Ruby was a member of Alpha Apostolic Temple Church and she loved reading her Bible, singing, and attending church on Sunday morning. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and reciting poems. Ruby loved her family and community dearly.She is survived by her daughters, Robin Michele Hamilton, Stephanie Matthews, and Karen B. Randolph; son, Edison Marty Hairston II; sister, Luevicie Marshall; brother, Homer Marshall Jr (Laura); grandchildren, Shaun Randolph, Eric Hairston (Chrystal), Indiana Hamilton, Shaunna Randolph; great grandchild, Leti Randolph.The funeral will be Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Ronald Pool officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
