Rufus "Papa Jack" Dwight Jackson

Rufus “Papa Jack” Dwight Jackson, 77, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025. He was born in Callands, Virginia, to the late Madison Monroe Jackson and Ruth Gravely Jackson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Kaye Johnston Jackson; stepson, Shawn Smith; sister, Lois Brown; and brother, Donald Lee Jackson.

Papa Jack was an electrician and plumber for Triangle Electric Company, but he was known as a Jack of all trades. He loved chocolate, old cars, hunting, and loved all things Christmas. His wife, Angie was the love of his life and he cherished every moment he had with her.

He is survived by his daughter, Angie Eanes; sons, Mike Jackson (Michelle) and Shannon Smith (Ruby); brother, David Jackson (Carolyn); grandchildren, Bentley Wiseman, Kasey Williams, Caillie Smith, Morgan Smith, Devin Smith (Kiana), Emma Smith, Gavin Smith, Jesse Gibson, Josh Eanes; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Smith, Ben Smith, Jackson Routh, Nathan, Brent, Brendon, and Anthony; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The funeral will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Donovant Family Cemetery, 423 Green Hill Drive, Martinsville, Virginia. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends and family at Rufus Jackson’s home, 431 Green Hill Drive, Martinsville, Virginia, Wednesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 16th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
