Russell Blair Cassada
Russell Blair Cassada passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Mr. Cassada was born on April 14, 1932, the son of the late David C. Cassada and Madie Jones Cassada.Blair lived his entire life in Danville and retired from the US Postal Service with 31 years of service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, serving in Germany, and was a member of the DAV and American Legion Post 325.He was married to the late Jeanette Gravett Cassada.Surviving are sons, Russell Blair Cassada, Jr. and wife Peggy and Ronald Wayne Cassada and wife Kea; three grandchildren, Russell Blair Cassada, III and wife Van, Augusta C. Irvin and husband Clark, and Ronald Wayne Cassada, Jr. and wife Cara; and great-grandchildren, Russell Blair Cassada, IV and Thomas Clark Irvine, Jr.In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was also predeceased by brothers, Jones, Johnny, Paul, Hugh, Latane, and Dee; sisters, Flossie Davis, Dorothy Perkins, Cecile Walker, Waverly Scearce, Eloise Hudgins, Lois Oakes, and Virginia Simpkins.Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, Mt. Hermon Chapel with Pastor Stephen White officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., also at Norris Funeral Service, Mt.
