Ruth Ann Light

Ruth Ann Light, 79, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home. She was born on January 16, 1945, in Galax, Virginia, to the late Frank Miller and Gladys G. Burnette. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby G. Light; two brothers, James Miller and Dice Miller; and one sister, Alice Isom.

Ruth had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoyed taking road trips, and found joy in the company of her cats. She will be fondly remembered for her exceptional cooking skills and for instilling in her daughter the importance of independence and self-sufficiency, making sure she always had her own money.

Ruth leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, cherished by her daughter, Rhonda L. Potter (Tim), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, grand fur-babies, and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mulberry Creek Nursing Home for the compassionate care provided to Ruth during her stay.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, 830 Applewood Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112.
