Ruth Carey Lewis

Ruth Carey Lewis, age 96, of Radford, Virginia, formerly of Salem, Virginia, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Radford.

She was born on July 10, 1929, in Burkeville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Irby and Mabel Carey. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late John Lee Lewis. She was also predeceased by her son, David Lewis, and her siblings Christine Glascock, Jack Carey, and Alma Carey.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Lynne Still and husband Greg; her grandsons, Aaron Still and wife Sarah, and Lucas Still; and her great-grandchildren, Carter Still, Riley Still, and Jack Still. She is also survived by her nieces, June Ramsey and husband Thomas, and Susan Frank and husband Robert.

Ruth always found joy in teaching Sunday School, sharing her love of music through teaching and playing piano, as well as in sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, and the many lives she touched through her talents and kindness.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Lotz Funeral Home, 1330 E. Main Street, Salem, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.
