Ruth Clay Mullen

Ruth Clay "Bobby" Mullen, 90, of Roanoke went to heaven to be with her beloved husband, Jack Mullen on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Cleveland and Virginia Gillespie Clay.

Early in Ruth's working life, she was employed by the Norfolk and Western Railroad. But the work that she considered her greatest accomplishment and brought her the most joy was that of helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Roanoke Valley Junior Women's Club where she worked with and was an officer in the Miss Virginia Organization. She was also a member of the Sigma Tau Delta sorority; the Golden Girls Bridge Club and the William Fleming Golden Colonels.

Surviving are her daughters, Jackie Kinder (Jay), and Marilyn Harriman (Ed); grandchildren, Meredith Burrow (Todd), Clay Kinder, Andrew Kinder (Nicole), Scott Harriman, Macy Oja (Andrew); great grandchildren, Ally, Teagan, and Meg Burrow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to theCarilion Children's Miracle Network 903 S. Jefferson Street Roanoke, VA 24016 in honor of Meg Burrow.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Electric Road Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home 3912 Electric Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home-Electric Road
