Sallie Chaney Rice

Sallie Chaney Rice, age 89, of Danville, VA, passed away on December 13, 2024, at SOVAH Health, Danville. Sallie was born in Danville on March 19, 1935, to the late Dorothy Baggett Chaney and the late Otis Barksdale Chaney. She was married to the late Russell Richard Rice.

Sallie worked for many years for Dan River Mills, Inc. as a Spinner and attended Central Blvd. Church of God.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Diane Martin, Joyce McAdams, and Linda Rice; a sister, Dorothy Pixley; a brother, Marvin Ray Chaney; four grandchildren, Candy Diane Wilford, Melissa Rose, Jennifer Wright, and Michael Sheetz, as well as six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Cecil and Kenneth Rice; a sister, Mary Jane Worley, and two brothers, Thomas and Harold Chaney.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Central Blvd. Church of God, Danville. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Highland Burial Park, Danville at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor James Spivey and Pastor Billy Hedrick.
