Sallie Jane Hagwood

Sallie Jane Hagwood, 83, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. She was born May 7, 1941, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late John Wise Hairston and Sallie L. Millner Hairston.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Lee Williams, Lucy Gravely, Dorothy Seay, Mary W. Carter, Josephine Watkins, Mary Magaline Hairston, Sara Hairston, Rosa Morrison, and two infant sisters; brothers, John Hairston, Jr., James B. Hairston, Robert Lee Hairston, Jesse James Hairston, and an infant brother.Sallie was a Member of Refuge Temple Ministries. She enjoyed word games, watching the Golden Girls, Young and Restless, The Bold and Beautiful, game shows and the news.She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Lloyd Douglas Hagwood; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mae Sherief and Betty Leagans.The funeral will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Refuge Temple with Elder Alan Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Hagwood Family Cemetery, 880 Willie Craig Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055.
