Sam Henry Gravely

Sam Henry Gravely, 89, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, at his residence. He was born January 21, 1934, in Martinsville, to the late William Gravely and Bertha Hairston Gravely.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Bertha Gravely Tolliver; sisters, Mary Turner, Agnes Gravely and Annie Bell Jones; and brothers, Johnny Gravely, Sylvester Gravely and James Gravely.He was a faithful member of Fresh Start Praise and Worship Center where he served as a deacon. He also sang and played the drums. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.Sam is survived by his wife, Maggie Turner Gravely; son, Gary Gravely; brother, Joseph Gravely; sister, Pearlene Gravely; grandchildren, Bridgette Tolliver, Keith Tolliver and Toya Tolliver; and his great-grandchildren, Abdullah Meeyra Tolliver and Asha Nicole Tolliver.The funeral will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.
