Samuel Ray Duff

Samuel Ray Duff, Sr., 91, of 1141 Halifax Rd., Danville, VA. passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, at Sovah Health in Danville, VA.

Born February 3, 1934, in Washington County, VA. Samuel was the son of the late Thelma Lee Dean Duff and Clarence Vintress Duff. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Ann Duff; his second wife, Charlotte Dean Duff; son, Samuel Ray Duff Jr.; and his two brothers, Estil Duff and Paul Duff.

Samuel has retired from Dan River Mills after 27 years as a sheet metal operator. He had served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge #4420.

He is survived by seven daughters, Susan K. Gibbs, Jean D. Cosner (Leslie), Peggy Ann Hall, Helen June Nelson (Doug), Revonda Stevens (Rodney), Charlotte Zuniga (Jose), and Beth Nestle all of Danville; a brother, Matthew Williams (Chi) of Danville; three sisters, Charlotte Perkins of Baltimore, MD, Helen June Duff of Glade Springs, VA and Ida Kay Townsend of Belle Aire, MD.

Also surviving are 29 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held, Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge # 4420, Rt. 58 West, Danville, VA.

The Duff family is being served by Norris Funeral Services and Crematory, Mount Hermon Chapel.
