Samuel "Sam" Fred Hayes

Samuel “Sam” Fred Hayes, 84, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Sam was born in Rockbridge County, VA on December 8, 1940, to the late Beatrice Huffman Hayes and the late Fred Houston Hayes. Sam is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Willavene W. Hayes.

Sam was of the Baptist Faith. He was the owner/operator of Quality Control in Blairs, VA for many years previous to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by a son; Jeff Hayes and wife Karen of Blairs, VA; a granddaughter; Kiersten Hayes of Danville, VA; two sisters; Sophie Baugher and husband Don of Glenmore, PA and Brenda Hickman and husband Gene of Greensboro, NC; a nephew; Gary Baugher and wife Susanne of Thorndale, PA; two nieces; Shannon McDonough of Charlotte, NC and Sara Baugher of Glenmore, PA; and four great nephews; Colin, Connor, and Christian McDonough of Charlotte, NC and Quinn Baugher of Thorndale, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Blairs Fire and Rescue, 7100 US Highway 29, Blairs, VA 24527.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 1:00pm at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Zach Hyler officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day, prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
