Sandra Gail Bailey
Sandra Gail Bailey, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and companion, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, in Blacksburg, Virginia. Born on June 12, 1960, in Virginia, Sandra's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her devotion to her loved ones.
Fondly remembered for her caring nature, Sandra dedicated many years to her work as a Nursing Assistant, where she provided comfort and care to those in need. Sandra's passion for life was reflected in her love for simple pleasures. She was known for her joy in playing bingo and cards, activities that brought her and her friends’ countless hours of laughter and camaraderie. Sandra’s spirit was made vibrant in trips to Kentucky, a place she held dear in her heart. These trips were more than just journeys—they were cherished adventures that created memories to last a lifetime. Sandra's love for dining out was no secret, with Golden Corral being a favorite spot where she enjoyed many meals.
Sandra's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving son, James David Bailey, and daughter, Shelia Ray Bailey. Her grandchildren, Zachary, JD, and Ashley Nicole Raye Bailey, will remember their grandmother's warmth and the wisdom she imparted. Sandra's special companion, Jack Rowe, stood by her side, sharing in the joys and sorrows, the everyday moments, and the milestones. She leaves behind her sisters, Ruby Carol Bailey, Carolyn Bailey, Juanita "Ree" Cumbee, Linda Collins "June Bug", Edna Price, and Patty Collins Thompson (Rodney), who will miss her presence deeply. Sandra's legacy will live on through her several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jim Bailey and Ella Sarver Bailey; her brothers, Teddy Ray Bailey and Jimmy Bailey; her brothers-in-law, Elmer Collins, Henderson Price, and Walter Cumbee; and her nephew, Darrell Wayne Cumbee.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Clover Hollow Cemetery in Newport, Virginia with Pastor Pete Dunford officiating.
